Bilbao, welcome to the Spanish Basque country
Bilbao is located in the north of Spain in the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country. It is surrounded by the Pagassari and Artxanda mountains. Bilbao is a port city and was built close to the Atlantic Ocean on the estuary of the Nervion river.
Bilbao presents one the most famous museums in the world : the Guggenheim museum. It houses collections of modern and contemporary art. Its architecture designed by Franck Gehry made this building a model and improved the visibility of the city of Bilbao all over the world.
Bilbao also offers older buildings to the visitors’ eyes, such as the Saint Jame’s cathedral whose contruction started probably before 1300. For your evenings, Bilbao offers a large choice of restaurants and bars that will make your nights there unforgettable!
And do not leave Bilbao without going to the 10,000 m² Ribera covered market, considered as one of the biggest in Europe!

- "good trip" Jamison v. 09/11/2015
Train was on time for the most part. A lot of leg room. A bit pricy for being almost 7 hours
- "Dream Journey" Santhosh s. 28/09/2015
My trip from Bilbao to Barcelona through Renfe was excellent. I really appreciate the timings followed by Renfe. My only suggestion is to provide free Wifi for the passengers, atleast who travel in first class.
- "Value for money" . 11/09/2015
Fast and comfortable, and a great way to see parts of Spain one normally does not see as a tourist
- "Easy, relaxing " Greta w. 20/07/2015
Taking the train is much more enjoyable than a flight. The train was clean and the seats fairly comfortable, and even though the journey was 5 hours it didn't feel that long.
- "No food for 1st Class tickets?" Sook Fern l. 16/11/2014
I was misled to think that all 1st class tickets come with food. Was disappointed to find out on board that there is more than one type of 1st class tickets; in fact I was embarrassed cos I had other guest-travelers whom I purchased the tickets for. Renfe should make this clear in their ad.
- "A comfortable trip" Sau Ying c. 06/10/2014
My friend and I traveled with renfe three times during our trip in Spain. The trains were new and clean and our seats were spacious. There was no delay and we were given enough time to board the train. We have traveled by train in Europe (in Denmark, Czech Republic, Germany) several times. This was by far the best experience.
- "Experience" Shu Kit c. 19/09/2014
We exprerienced mechanical breakdown during the travel. Maintenance shall be enhanced. No headphone provided and we were not able to enjoy the movie shown. It is possible to increase the speed of the train?
- "renfe" Ayse M. Bulak h. 21/06/2014
buy your ticket early, you will get a good rate for the trip. The train trips are always more comfortable compare to the bus trips. Renfe is no exception to that. Clean. Good connection between Chamartin and Atocha.
- "Trip from Bilbao to Vigo" Dragana c. 17/06/2014
Since it was a long distance (11 hours of jurney), we were happy to see that a train is nice and comfortable. There was always a soap in toilet. As a suggestion, it would be very good to have a restaurant/cafe vagon.
- "You get what you pay for" Michelle b. 07/06/2014
the staff are awesome, and look like they are working hard. the only downside is the seats they are really uncomfortable, other than that, it was a good trip, the amenities were clean so was the train
- "Train trip Barcelona to Bilbao" Wendy f. 27/05/2014
This was a very convenient and easy way to travel. I made use of disabled assistance which was very helpful and efficient.
- "Excellent way to travel" Susan v. 29/10/2013
We travelled from Paris to Blois in the Loire Valley. The train left Gare d'Austerlitz in Paris on time, was very clean, comfortable and quiet and arrived on time in Blois a couple of hours later. Getting on and off the train with our luggage was easy and there was plenty of room to store the luggage. Wouldn't hesitate to use this service again.
- "a good journey from Barcelona " Chung-jen h. 16/09/2013
I just traveled a round trip from Barcelona to Bilbao. Actually it was a long journey but the experience was good. The train was clean and the service was good. The food at train was also at good quality.
