Overview
Laval, how such a little town can be flooded with so much tourist sites ?
Laval is a small city located in the southwestern part of France. Along the Mayenne river, you will discover a charming city classified "ville d’art et d’histoire", proof of its important and well-preserved heritage. So why don’t you come by train and see?
Admire the proud keep, that is overlooking the river and the bridge since the 13th century. From there, enjoy the view.
See the impressive ramparts and the Beucheresse’s gate, and compare the two castles. The old one dates back to the 12th century and houses now the museum of Naive Art, whereas the second castle is a great example of the second renaissance style architecture. If you like museums you can also visit the one of Sciences, the one of Public school, the wash-house boat, or the one of the dairy, called Lactopôle.
You may be spoiled for choice... And stroll around the historic centre to see the lovely half-timbered houses!
