Located only 9 kms away from the Mount Saint-Michel in the northwestern part of France, Pontorson is a little city counting around 6.000 inhabitants. Built along the Couesnon river, its vicinity with the famous mount makes Pontorson a city attracting many visitors each year.
The Mount Saint-Michel’s bay is one of the most famous in Europe thanks to the holly Saint-Michel’s hill. This little UNESCO listed island is the siege of a wonderful fortified village.
The abbey which is 170 meters high overlooks the bay and is world-known and attract more than 3 million visitors a year. This lovely region also offers the visitors many charming and typical cities and villages : Pontorson is one of them.
You will enjoy the city centre of Pontorson, particularly along the Couesnon banks where boats invite you to hop on board, heading the Mount Saint-Michel by the river. It is something you should experience!

Fast trip because the two cities are near each other. We moved to Lausanne because we had to take another train very early next morning. If not we would stay at Montreux.

Excellent booking system - good price by booking online early, picked up tickets at the station on the day with no problems (machines in English). Trains punctual and reliable.
