While you're there

Venice is a unique experience for every traveller and certainly a must for lovers. Few people know that Venice is actually an island-city with a train bridge connecting it to mainland Italy. This romantic city actually has no roads at all! To move around there are 150 canals and over 400 bridges! Venice has also beautiful churches, squares and museums. The southern part of the Venice has a certain village feel. Perfect to wander around in the little alleys, get lost and finally reach the Santa Margherita square. Ideal place for its lively bars!

Have a look at the St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. But what makes the city of Venice so special are the labyrinth of medieval alleyways and canals. Wander around freely and get lost even, it is the best way to reach a small square here or discover another beautiful bridge there, all set in a romantic atmosphere. Wander in the Cannaregio area, which is more about atmosphere than major sights. In the Ghetto, one of Venice’s most evocative areas, have a rest in a cafe and watch the kids play outside.

Have a look at fascinating areas of Venice where time seems to have stood still. You can have a tourist guide of the area between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, through a labyrinth of little canals, and sites of historic and artistic interest, passing by some special places: Teatro la Fenice, (The Phoenix), one of the most famous opera house in Europe; Scala del Bovolo, an unique spiral staircase with a plethora of arches; Rialto Bridge and its typical shops, one of the architectural icons of Venice.

In Venice, fish is a speciality. Try the delicious minced salmon and lightly seared tuna with finely chopped cucumber. Don’t miss the Baccalà Mantecato which is cooked in olive oil, garlic, and parsley and then creamed in a blender.

Have a look at the Venetian ateliers to discover how and where the most famous traditional products are created. You will discover Venice’s top handcraft tradition: velvets, marbleized paper, books and leather bindings, Carnival masks, gold and silver jewellery, and other wonders.

  • "good"
everything did go well. I got my tickets in time via post. The train times and seat reservation were correct. Just the time of the city train was 5 min different. A online-printable ticket would be nice.
  • "Sleeping in the couchettes "
Me and my boyfriend travelled in the couchettes and were allocated to the upper beds were there wasn't or at least we weren't informed if there were, any bedside protections, so the result is we ended up sleeping very poorly due to fear of falling and getting hurt from all the height. Luckily I was saved by an italian employee (female, don't remember the name) who let me stay in her sleeping compartment, me and some other people who weren't given reserved seats; she pretty much saved (partially) the night for all of us.
  • "Very Good!"
The staff was amazing and accomidating. The heat was broken but we were given many coffees to make up for it!
  • "Excelent value for the trip"
Travel time is ok. We got seats near the window and we have socket for our devices. The only minus is the seat. Its not very comfy to sleep if you are going to travel long.
  • "Good."
This was a nice train ride. Comfortable and not crowded.
  • "Satisfactory."
    Comfortable. Satisfactory.
  • " TRIESTE CENTRALE - UDINE"
Overall it was a good trip. Only lack of information I experienced.
  • "Value for money!"
Five of us travelled from Venice to Milan with lots of luggage. We booked 2nd class so didn't expect any help with our luggage. We have a motto "only take what you can carry yourself" The luggage rack area was safe and easily accessible. We had seats facing each other with a table which was ideal. Comfy seats, plenty of room was just what we needed. The online booking was so simple. Will definitely recommend.
  • "Rome to Venice"
The train was right on time in both leaving Rome and arriving in Venice.
  • "Excellent Service"
Me and my family travelled to on Train from paris to London and Rome to Venice. Bought the tickets on line from Pakistan, every thing was very convenient and excellent service.
  • "Easy "
Relaxed and enjoyed the scenery on the comfortable, high-speed trip Florence to Venice. Personnel were nice and helpful; train was on time and easy to board and exit.
  • "Flrence - Venice - Mestre - Mi"
Rail in Europe is a wonderful way to travel the trains on all our journeys were clean and prompt. The only point is at Mestre Station there is no lift to move your luggage as family we have 4 pcs of luggage that becomes a problem lugging it down and then up. The porter service is available but at a fee not base on personal gratuity. Otherwise a great way to travel
  • "Vinod"
It as not that good and whole night people keep walking and couldn't sleep well.
  • "Milan to Venice"
Train was modern, clean and comfortable. It left and arrived on time. The train was easy to book online and the whole process was excellent and hassle free.
  • "Train Trip - Rome to Venice"
The ride was very smooth, and the train personnel were very courteous. It was a great adventure!
