While you're there

Venice is a unique experience for every traveller and certainly a must for lovers. Few people know that Venice is actually an island-city with a train bridge connecting it to mainland Italy. This romantic city actually has no roads at all! To move around there are 150 canals and over 400 bridges! Venice has also beautiful churches, squares and museums. The southern part of the Venice has a certain village feel. Perfect to wander around in the little alleys, get lost and finally reach the Santa Margherita square. Ideal place for its lively bars!

Have a look at the St Mark’s Basilica and the Doge’s Palace. But what makes the city of Venice so special are the labyrinth of medieval alleyways and canals. Wander around freely and get lost even, it is the best way to reach a small square here or discover another beautiful bridge there, all set in a romantic atmosphere. Wander in the Cannaregio area, which is more about atmosphere than major sights. In the Ghetto, one of Venice’s most evocative areas, have a rest in a cafe and watch the kids play outside.

Have a look at fascinating areas of Venice where time seems to have stood still. You can have a tourist guide of the area between Piazza San Marco and the Rialto Bridge, through a labyrinth of little canals, and sites of historic and artistic interest, passing by some special places: Teatro la Fenice, (The Phoenix), one of the most famous opera house in Europe; Scala del Bovolo, an unique spiral staircase with a plethora of arches; Rialto Bridge and its typical shops, one of the architectural icons of Venice.

In Venice, fish is a speciality. Try the delicious minced salmon and lightly seared tuna with finely chopped cucumber. Don’t miss the Baccalà Mantecato which is cooked in olive oil, garlic, and parsley and then creamed in a blender.

Have a look at the Venetian ateliers to discover how and where the most famous traditional products are created. You will discover Venice’s top handcraft tradition: velvets, marbleized paper, books and leather bindings, Carnival masks, gold and silver jewellery, and other wonders.

  • "On the go with Frecciarossa!"
Easy to manage, affordable train ticket pricing, decent leg space (for the price you pay) and the staff were helpful when you have questions. More importantly, it's widely reminded to safe guard your personal belongings at all time and if you are alert on that note, the train ride will be just fine :)
  • "Very beautiful trip"
It was a beautiful trip - traveling in first class in a compartment with one other couple from Germany - we had a very nice conversation along the way and the scenery was absolutely stunning - it was clear and sunny the entire trip - except when it got later and then it was clear and you could see the stars. Just beautiful. Only complaint was that the food car was not adequately staffed, did not have enough food, and the service was so slow that we eventually left - after the staff told us they could not take any more orders. It was a good thing we did bring a little lunch - however, we could not even get a cup of coffee they were so overwhelmed. Maybe compartment service for the people traveling in first class - or additional staff....not sure.
  • "Amazing experience!"
We would recommend ppl to take this route from Rome to Venice during day time as one can enjoy the nature at its best. Hospitality of the staff is great, train is so neat and clean. Five stars!!

The overnight train is clean and comfortable. Comes with welcoming pack and breakfast. 3 bunk beds per coach (not too crowded). Conductor wakes you up 30 minutes before arrival while serving breakfast.

Train was on time. We easily found our booked seats which were very comfortable. The train was smart, clean, fast and absolutely punctual. On a month long holiday across 4 countries, this train trip was the best financial value of all our transport costs.

Recommend to book early for a comfortable ride
  • "Being prepared"
I was very happy that we bought our tickets upfront via your online site. Made it so much easier - no waiting in queues to buy tickets
  • "Firenze to Venezia in two hour"
There is no better way to get to Venezia from Firenze than the train. Only a few stops and very quick. Seats in business are spacious and comfortable and don't believe what you read about baggage size. There is plenty of baggage storage overhead and oversized bags slide conveniently between the seats so you don't even have to lift the heavy ones
