The main train station in the French town of Chamonix is located in the city centre. The station is called Chamonix Mont Blanc and it is serviced by the national railway company of France, the SNCF. From the Chamonix railway station, tourist can take the train to reach the Mer de Glace. The train to Mer de Glace departs from a train station next to that of Chamonix. Travellers can take the local train operated by the SNCF to reach nearby towns of Saint Gervais.
Chamonix can be easily reached by the Eurostar from London to Paris. From Paris (usually from Paris Gare de Lyon railway station) there are high speed TGV trains to Bellegarde, a town in the southeast of France.
