Madrid Atocha railway station is the biggest railway station in the Spanish city of Madrid. The Madrid Atocha railway station is located a few metres from Real Jardín Botánico de Madrid, in the Atocha district. The railway station faces the Plaza del Emperador Carlos V. The interior of the railway station is characterized by a very natural décor, with plants and a big plaza. Two metro stations equally connect to the Madrid Atocha. The metro stations are Atocha and Atocha Renfe.
Madrid Atocha railway station is served by commuter trains, intercity trains, regional trains from the south of Spain and the AVE high speed train from Barcelona, Saragosse, Sevilla and Valencia. The AVE high speed trains are all operated the national railway company of Spain – Renfe. The station serves as a hub for all intercity trains from Spain, along with the AVE trains. The most important routes are: Madrid-Valencia, Madrid-Barcelona and Madrid-Seville.
