Travel inspiration in Geneva and Milan
Geneva, the second largest Swiss city
Geneva is the second most important city of Switzerland. It is located alongside Lake Geneva, Europe’s largest lake, at the foot of the Jura Mountains. The city of Geneva is home to a number of headquarters to several international organisations such as the United Nations (UN) and the Red Cross. This makes Geneva one of the few global cities with an important financial centre. Geneva is also a popular tourist destination mainly for two reasons. Geneva is a dream city thanks to a unique setting and a magnificent view of Mont-Blanc, the highest peak in Europe. The countryside, the perfect place for outdoor activities, is only a few minutes away from the city. Geneva is the best starting point to visit rest of Switzerland thanks to an excellent public transport connection.
Milan, the second largest city in Italy
Milan is a main Italian city and regarded as the fashion capital of Europe. Milan is also an transport hub for Italy. The city has an important stake in the finance, commerce, media and sport of Italy. Two of its football teams, Inter Milan and Milan AC, are known throughout the world. Milan is located in the north west of Italy and is home to a number of museums, designers factory shops, churches and other landmarks. Those who love street style would love the Navigli area. In Piazza XXIV Maggio, shoppers will find brands such Custo-Barcellona, Diesel, Miss Sixteen, Gas and Fornarina, alongside second-hand clothes shops, handmade clothes and accessory stores made from silk and other precious materials.
The main railway stations of Milan are Milan Centrale and Milan Porta Garibaldi. The two stations are about 1.5 kilometres away from each other.
Reviews & ratings Geneva - Milan
We were very pleased with the state of the train, clean comfortable seats and space for all our luggage. It was on time. We did the booking via the internet and managed to save a lot on travel agent fees. The e ticket was all that was necessary to produce to the conductor. Many thanks for a pleasant trip.
We enjoy very much, the train was on time and clean
Hi, You have great staffs that are very friendly and knowledgeable. Thanks again for the great service
As the case with every trip I make to Europe from Dubai, I booked my train trip from Geneve to Milan via Rail Europe
Great, easy and convenience.
I really enjoyed the trip. It would be more useful if we could use wifi internet conexion.
Never took it because we were delayed due to a faulty track near Lyon, France.
I booked my ticket online, but somehow I could only receive it via fedex. The ticket arrived when I was already gone. I had a scan of the actual ticket and went to the sbb office in Geneva to verify I can use this proof. They encouraged me to buy another ticket. I looked for the rail Europe office and while I got there 5 minutes before the official closing time, the doors where already locked and in sign language the office representative told me she could do nothing and that I must buy another ticket. Thankfully the inspector knew better and accepted my scan with no problem. Overall this process caused me a lot of anxiety, primarily because I could not just print my e-ticket, because I had to pay 14 euros for fed ex that is unnecessary on the digital era, for the inflexibility of customer service representatives at sbb, for the rudeness of the rail city employee. I hope this review helps you to improve your service.
I booked my train journey via your web page, at 50% less than the cost on the train Italia web site,!!!! My journey was wonderful and much cheaper than any available air fares. On the Swiss side I required help and they were very helpful and provided me with the info that I needed. They train was on time and everything was fine until we arrived on the 2nd stop on the Italian side. I understand that this is often the case. We had approx 1 hour of delay, no reason was ever given for this delay.
it is was comfort trip the service was excellent
The first class cabin was full, but not crowded. I was hoping at least a courtesy bottle of water, but in general I was pleased witht he experience.
The 2nd class was not that comfortable, a bit crowded and noisy indeed. And the leg room of the window seat is just too limited due to the little rubbish bin. I would try the 1st class instead next time.
I traveled recently from Geneva to Milan; and it was an absolutely fabulous experience enjoying the picturesque nature. The on-board catering services accepted both Euros and Swiss Francs making the experience comfortable for all. I hope to use Rail Europe once again in the future.
the trip was wonderful, amazing landscapes, excellent comfort, although the price was a little bit expensive.
