Travel inspiration in Geneva and Milan
Geneva, the second largest Swiss city
Geneva is the second most important city of Switzerland. It is located alongside Lake Geneva, Europe’s largest lake, at the foot of the Jura Mountains. The city of Geneva is home to a number of headquarters to several international organisations such as the United Nations (UN) and the Red Cross. This makes Geneva one of the few global cities with an important financial centre. Geneva is also a popular tourist destination mainly for two reasons. Geneva is a dream city thanks to a unique setting and a magnificent view of Mont-Blanc, the highest peak in Europe. The countryside, the perfect place for outdoor activities, is only a few minutes away from the city. Geneva is the best starting point to visit rest of Switzerland thanks to an excellent public transport connection.
Milan, the second largest city in Italy
Milan is a main Italian city and regarded as the fashion capital of Europe. Milan is also an transport hub for Italy. The city has an important stake in the finance, commerce, media and sport of Italy. Two of its football teams, Inter Milan and Milan AC, are known throughout the world. Milan is located in the north west of Italy and is home to a number of museums, designers factory shops, churches and other landmarks. Those who love street style would love the Navigli area. In Piazza XXIV Maggio, shoppers will find brands such Custo-Barcellona, Diesel, Miss Sixteen, Gas and Fornarina, alongside second-hand clothes shops, handmade clothes and accessory stores made from silk and other precious materials.
The main railway stations of Milan are Milan Centrale and Milan Porta Garibaldi. The two stations are about 1.5 kilometres away from each other.
"Value for money!"Ra b.
Five of us travelled from Venice to Milan with lots of luggage. We booked 2nd class so didn't expect any help with our luggage. We have a motto "only take what you can carry yourself" The luggage rack area was safe and easily accessible. We had seats facing each other with a table which was ideal. Comfy seats, plenty of room was just what we needed. The online booking was so simple. Will definitely recommend. Value for money Convenience

It was a nice journy from Milan to Zurich and train staff was very familiar. More cleanliness is needed, for example full trash boxes. Value for money Convenience

"Train from Florence to Milan"Kazunori k. 04/11/2013
The train is very clean and seats are comfortable. Most importantly, they are always very punctual. I realise it is cheaper to buy the ticket on-line before travel and not when you are there. The price difference can be quite great.

I wanted to see Leonardo's painting 'The last supper'. I got my guided tour reserved for 22/09/2013 at 10 am. I booked my Rail-Europe tickets Firenge to Milan at 7 am and back at 13-15 pm by 2nd class each for 17 Euros, from India. It was a tight trip and I was tense weather I can make it. The trains were on time and I could fulfill my long cherished dream of watching Leonardo's magnum opus. Thanks to Rail-Europe for its prompt service at an affordable price. "A cheap, comfortable journey"Maria Ludovica r. 31/10/2013
I really needed to get to Geneva, Switzerland from Italy, but the costs for Allan ticket were a nightmare. I took a chance and searched for a train, and not only was it affordable, it was also very convenient! The only problem I ha was that raileurope wanted to send me the ticket via mail, and wouldn't let me print it myself, requiring 12€ extra for shipping fees (which is not much, but was absolutely unnecessary). Apart from this, the journey was really comfortable and pleasurable. Definitely something I'll do again! Value for money Convenience

Getting to Paris from Geneva is simple - hop the train, settle back, enjoy the ride and the view and in 3 short hours arrive in Gare de Lyon. The train is quiet, in 1st class they provide a plated snack, lots of non-alcoholic drinks, and the option to have a pre-arranged taxi on arrival. Value for money Convenience

"Convenient way to travel"Nokukhanya m. 27/10/2013
I travelled alone (female) from Geneva to Zurich and felt safe all the way. The train was clean and comfortable. I enjoyed the scenery on the three hour long trip and once I got to Zurich main station I had to change trains to get to my hotel. The information desk at Zurich station were happy to direct me to the correct platform. Value for money

We (myself and wife) traveled from Luzern to Rome and the trip was in two legs. First one was from Luzern to Milan and then from Milan to Rome. We chose the train as we were interested in the landscape of Switzerland and Italy on the way. It was a comfortable trip, nice and clean coaches, good seats and comfortable cabins with very less noise. Also the view was great - through the hillsides and valleys of Switzerland and the farms and houses of Italy. Overall - very good experience. Value for money Convenience
