Travel inspiration in Lyon and Marseille
Lyon, the capital of French gastronomy
Proud of its history – Lyon was once the capital of the Gauls – the city offers an original trip back in time and through cultures. Gastronomy, culture, fêtes, nature, silk, light... you name it! Lyon has it! Besides being known for its culinary and architectural heritage, Lyon is also renowned for its effervescent cultural scene. The most appealing event of the city is the Festival of Lights, which takes place during four nights in December.
Marseille, the capital of Provence region
Marseille is the oldest French city and the second most important city in France after Paris. Marseille is located on the southeast coast of France in the Provence region. The city is known for its harbour, sunny climate and beautiful coastline. The natural beauty of Marseille is reflected by its parks and calanques. This explains why Marseille has retained a particular village feel. From the historic Panier district to the Romanesque churches, the city is full of treasures. The famous Notre Dame de la Garde, which overlooks the city from the top of a hill, is not be missed.
Reviews & ratings Lyon - Marseille
Very good scheduling
We went to Marseille from Paris by TGV train. We enjoyed the experience on the train.
Приятно путешествовать такими поездами и хорошо, что есть возможность покупки билетов через интернет.
Getting around France by rail is relatively easy, even if you don't speak the language. Just be mindful if you are tagging around with heavy luggage as you have to haul your luggage up and down the stairways. Also, check your confirmed seats to ensure that they are conveniently allocated especially if you are travelling with elderly folks, although most passengers would be graceful to exchange their seats with you. It would be ideal if TGV can extend its line to the airport as it is costly to commute from Lyon Part Dieu to Lyon St Exupery airport.
Ease of boarding, warm and helpful staff, comfortable seats, silent and roomy cabins, clean toilets ,fast trains...Better than flying
Another comfortable train journey in Spain.
It was a pleasant trip from Paris to Dijon by TGV, train was nice, clean and punctual! I am impressed, it is such a great way to travel in France. Australia...please learn something from France!
We got a very good price our tickets because we purchased the tickets a month ahead. However, because we live in Malaysia we had to get the tickets posted to us and the postage was the price of 1 ticket. At the time of our purchase the print@home and print@station options were not available. And we were not able to choose our seats as well, they allocated our seats to the top level which was very inconvenient as we had a very heavy luggage with us.
