Travel inspiration in Venice and Munich
Venice is a unique experience for every traveller and certainly a must for lovers. Few people know that Venice is actually an island-city with a train bridge connecting it to mainland Italy. This romantic city actually has no roads at all! To move around there are 150 canals and over 400 bridges! Venice has also beautiful churches, squares and museums. The southern part of the Venice has a certain village feel. Perfect to wander around in the little alleys, get lost and finally reach the Santa Margherita square. Ideal place for its lively bars!
Munich is one of the most popular destination in Europe and Germany. The city is the capital of the Bavaria state. Munich is world known for its beer and the famous Oktoberfest. Home to the BMW Welt and the FC Bayern, Munich is a city with something for everyone! More than that, Munich is an important centre for art, culture and international affairs. The city is clean, safe and has an efficient transport system. Being an open and joyful city, Munich is a leisure paradise with a splendid view over the alps. Munich is easily reached by train from Paris, Berlin and Zurich.
Reviews & ratings Venice - Munich
The staff was amazing and accomidating. The heat was broken but we were given many coffees to make up for it!
Overall it was a good trip. Only lack of information I experienced.
The train was crowded and cramped. Other than that it was lovely.
i took the train from Venice to Munich. The seats were horrible. not really comfortable to rest well.
Great trip, great scenery, a relaxing ride. Good value. Pleasant surroundings. Hopefully faster next time.
After reading about the Night trains, I was under the impression that there was a toilet and a shower in my 'room'. Instead I found a tiny wash basin. The toilet and shower were down further in the carriage, and the shower didn't work! The train bumps along quite roughly and makes so much noise that I couldn't sleep for most of the trip. The train manager takes a long time to check tickets and get breakfast organized so you have to wait quite a long time before you can wash up and go to bed. I would most definitely never take a night train again!
We had to sleep on the night train because we had a problem on the railways, to our surprise, there were no beds, but chairs, so was the worst night we'd had while traveling. A complementary hotel night would be nice (as airlines do), but at least I would've set for a bed in the train. But nothing. You need to specify that there is no bed but chair, there was no option to choose bed, and we all thought as it was a Night Train, all would be beds.
Train from munich to Venice and from Venice to munich were both cancelled. I had to take the train from munich to Wien instead and made several changes which took 7 hours longer than scheduled. From Venice back to munich, the staff arranged us to take a bus all the way from Venice to munich for about 12 hours, which was very exhausting.
I was a bit worried after I accidentally purchased my tickets with RailEurope World instead of RailEurope in the USA.. BUT I recrived my tickets from RailEurope World 2 days after purchase and they were a fraction of the cost of RailEurope in the USA. I used my tickets during my trip and had no problems! I will definitely buy all my future tickets with RailEurope World!! Great price! Great service!
The only negative was the lack of service from the on board restaurant. We also had a very bad restaurant experience on our Rail Europe trip from Berlin to Prague. Our Rail Europe restaurant experience on our recent Prague to Munich trip was exceptionally GOOD. The only other bad feature of rail travel was the lack of space for luggage - lifting heavy bags up into overhead storage areas is very difficult particularly for older travellers.
