Travel inspiration in Vienna and Venice
Vienna is the capital city of Austria and home to approximately 1,6 million inhabitants. Vienna is the seat of many multinationals and is becoming more and more important as a centre for trade between Western and Eastern Europe. Vienna is also a city of green parks, calm, dreamy alleys, art and music. This city is rightly deemed a city worth living in, being a cosmopolitan city of culture and gastronomy.
Venice is a unique experience for every traveller and certainly a must for lovers. Few people know that Venice is actually an island-city with a train bridge connecting it to mainland Italy. This romantic city actually has no roads at all! To move around there are 150 canals and over 400 bridges! Venice has also beautiful churches, squares and museums. The southern part of the Venice has a certain village feel. Perfect to wander around in the little alleys, get lost and finally reach the Santa Margherita square. Ideal place for its lively bars!
Reviews & ratings Vienna - Venice
Me and my boyfriend travelled in the couchettes and were allocated to the upper beds were there wasn't or at least we weren't informed if there were, any bedside protections, so the result is we ended up sleeping very poorly due to fear of falling and getting hurt from all the height. Luckily I was saved by an italian employee (female, don't remember the name) who let me stay in her sleeping compartment, me and some other people who weren't given reserved seats; she pretty much saved (partially) the night for all of us.
Travel time is ok. We got seats near the window and we have socket for our devices. The only minus is the seat. Its not very comfy to sleep if you are going to travel long.
This was a nice train ride. Comfortable and not crowded.
It as not that good and whole night people keep walking and couldn't sleep well.
I expected more space in the 1st class double-berth sleeper, though it was cozy. Probably standard 2nd class sleepers would be better value for money. There's physically no space if you have luggage... you should somehow put it under your legs or smth... the room is really very small. Apart from that, it was quite comfortable.
It's good for maximize sight seeing time. However, i think it is better to change/renew train facilities. It is unconfortable compare with rail jet and other inter city trains due to doesn't have enough silence to sleep.
The train had a serious breakdown, there was no air conditioning in the car and the heat became unbearable. The staff tried to help bringing water. And after a good time to travel so they stopped to change the car.
I found the train ride to be very nice, great views not cramped like a plane however, as it was summer the air conditioning was terrible. I remember sitting in my seat sweating and the only way we go relief was to go out side and stand in the hallway. we couldn't even open the window wide enough to maintain fresh air..
Not too expensive, simple straight forward travelling. Food was well valued and luckily for us we had an empty cabin so it was a very relaxing journey
I purchase the ticket with shower included - but when on the train just simple compartment was given (the ticket was without shower) :(
The air condition was not strong. The room was hot and you can hear ppl from other compartments.
I really like the night train experience!
I was a passenger in my own sleeper coupe on the night train from Vienna to Venice on 23 April 2013. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wishes to avoid the drudge of airport transfers, seemingly endless security queues and the ever-present threat of strike actions. The steward assigned to the coach was friendly, helpful and efficient. I was able to get a comfortable night's sleep, arriving in Italy refreshed and still with a full day ahead to enjoy. The 129 Euro first class ticket was absolutely worth it.
The best part is The train station location Better Than an airport. We Go anywhere just walking.
