Travel inspiration in Marseille and Nice
Marseille, the capital of Provence region
Marseille is the oldest French city and the second most important city in France after Paris. Marseille is located on the southeast coast of France in the Provence region. The city is known for its harbour, sunny climate and beautiful coastline. The natural beauty of Marseille is reflected by its parks and calanques. This explains why Marseille has retained a particular village feel. From the historic Panier district to the Romanesque churches, the city is full of treasures. The famous Notre Dame de la Garde, which overlooks the city from the top of a hill, is not be missed.
Nice, the capital of the French Riviera
Nice, capital of the French Riviera, is the place to be whether you are an art lover, a shopping addict, night clubber or just fond of the Dolce Vita lifestyle. Nice is a creative, dynamic and cosmopolitan city. The city is a symbol of Mediterranean art of living, with a perpetual invitation to travel and relaxation. Its surroundings also provide various opportunities for cultural discoveries. Nice has an exceptional microclimate, open to the sea and protected from the winds by the surrounding hills.
Reviews & ratings Marseille - Nice
It was fast but there were just too many stops on the way to Marseille. The luggage storage was too small for the number of passengers in the coach, especially with some travellers who have big suitcases.
Excellent on time service and purchasing. Online was perfect and easy to use
We loved traveling in the upper level coach and enjoy the buffet cars on these trains. Seats are comfortable with footrests.
France Rail Pass is required to be validated physically before first journey. This should be avoided. Instead of paper documents make it digital and make facility like e check in. our tain was was at 7.24. The window opened at 7 with a queue . Hence validation before travel was a bit hassle. other wise very comfortable, value for money.
Right from city centre to city centre, fast and convenient. Not exactly cheap tho.
It was very interesting to seat in comfortable train and watch very beautiful views of South of France through the window. We were very satisfied with our wonderful trip and decided repeat it again in Autumn from Paris to Bordeaux and farther. . .
Travelling 1st class TGV expected a much better experience ( Spanish train travel setting the high standard last year ) did not have anything to score more than average. Maybe it was a bad day for the Marseille to Nice run.
Very comfortable journey but the waiting time of trains at the station is less. So, people with lot of luggage should very plan and take into consideration the same.
This review is regarding the deceiving online order system and lack of customer service. I purchased the tickets online in July 2014, and was charged extra for a "Rail Protection Plan", the box of which was automatically checked by default when filling the order. I clicked the confirm button too early before realizing the total was substantially higher than what it was supposed to be. I tried to call right away to remove the charge but there was no phone number to be found. I then emailed and received a reply telling me that the protection plan is non-refundable. This is a horrible business model, and I will advise everyone I know in my multiple global organizations and online forums not to use this site.
From Nice to Marseille is not a TGV !!! It's the slowest train ever ! From Marseille to Avignon was a nice speed and a nice experience
Booking through Rail Europe worked well as as SCNF website would not accept NZ credit card. The train was on schedule and comfortable, and very convenient for our itinerary.
Nice train journey, but the ticket information centre staff is not nice, when we want to activate our train pass, she pertained don't know English, which is wasting our time to catch on the train. It made us so angry :(
The train was comfortable and good to have sufficient racks for travellers to put their suitcases. However, there was at least 35 minutes delay on arrival to my destination, Avignon. My second ride on the train also had the same problem but delay was less serious. A bit frustrated as trains are supposed to be on time as there is no traffic jam that can affect its schedule.
We had been delayed for 2 hours from Paris to Marseille due to bad weather. SNFC compensated us a supplement box which contains some food.
thank you very much for this opporinuty staff was really help full but there could be meal service ( a selection or the menu back of the seats ) instead of us going to the restaurant.
