Travel inspiration in Montpellier and Barcelona
Montpellier, a pioneer of ecological urbanism
Montpellier is one of the most important cities of France in terms of population. It is located in southern France, in the very heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon region and about 12 kilometres away from the Mediterranean Sea. Montpellier is a fast expanding city, and it is one of best places to experience the art de vivre of the southern region of France. This makes Montpellier an ideal holiday destination as well as a renowned student city.
Montpellier is a pilot city for ecological urbanism in France. Discover its wide pedestrian area and blue decorated tramways. You’ll be amazed to learn that its trams are designed by artists including Garouste, Bonetti and Christian Lacroix. Montpellier can also be visited by using the bike along the brand new bike path that follows the Lez River. The bike is also great to visit vineyards or to go to the beach.

Reviews & ratings Montpellier - Barcelona
When I went to sit in my assigned seat there was another individual in it. The staff on the train did not move him and there were no other first class seats available so I had to sit in second class.
Trip was enjoyable thanks to the beautiful scenery.
Nobody checked to see if we even had tickets. Could have rode for free if we knew that ahead of time. Quick, scenic, pleasant.
Our traintrip was everything we expected : comfort, friendlyness of the personnel, punctuality, etc.
Great experience at first class
A wonderful experience, will rather use your rail service than fly in future
The train was the most enjoyable part of our travels from Toronto to Montpellier. We flew direct from Toronto to Barcelona, and though it took us a while to figure out the Spanish maps to make our connection to the train (the TGV) to Montpellier, the connections were quite direct, and the waiting areas fairly comfortable. Once aboard the train, it was very comfortable, with nice, wide seats compared to what we'd been sitting in for 8 hours with Air Transat. Moving about on the train was easy, and a visit to the food concession car was nice for stretching one's legs. Food was better than airline quality, and the prices not too bad.
Taking the train was a smooth and quiet way to get from Barcelona to Montpellier.
Thanks! It was pleasure for me and my family.
Great trip from Barcelona, first class was only a few euros more and totally worth it! Reclining seats which were big and lots of bag storage room. Toilet wasn't that nice but it's a train. The train did have a technical issue and had to stop for 20min in Perpignan and people had to change trains in Montpellier, but that was a quick changeover. Cheaper and easier than flying. Big wide windows and very clean!
The journey from Barcelona to Montpellier was as you'd expect from a European train: clean, organised and well, high speed. The highlight was one of the catering staff at the canteen who clearly enjoyed his job and life in general and provided joviality and humour to all he served. My group and I enjoyed observing his contentment and how me made everyone smile.
We are from the U.S. and had a very favorable experience on the France-Spain train. It was very easy to board, somewhat difficult to place our bags near our car, and comfortable once seated. There was a brief drink service in our car and a movie as well. Again, overall, a great experience.
The train was on time and the journey was smooth. A great way to get from Montpellier St-Roch to Barcelona Sants!
excellent trip, fast journey although it was pricey if you wanted to eat or drink something in the train
Absolutely no trouble booking this trip and taking this trip. My son and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I wish we were there now! and I wish that the US valued and funded such excellent, efficient and inexpensive train service. I wouldn't hesitate to use rail europe in the future and would recommend to anyone. we booked our trip 2 days before we traveled!
